Welch Products Receives Trademark
Protection for "Universal Access" from US Patent Office
Welch Products, parent company of the National Safe Surfacing Initiative, announced
today that it has received trademark approval and protection for its trade name
"Universal Access" from the U.S. Patent Office.
Tim Mahoney, Vice President of Welch Products, stated, "This trademark
speaks to the core of our playground safety division, The National Safe
Surfacing Initiative, and its commitment to provide safe and accessible play
and fitness areas to children, regardless of their physical abilities.
Our playground safety surfacing products and solutions continue to allow schools,
childcare centers and public parks the ability to meet Federal ADAAG (American
Disability Act Accessibility Guidelines) goals for accessibility to children
and adults."
"Furthermore", Mahoney continued, "we believe this new brand will assist
our customers and the playground industry to better understand the need for
play area standards that are "universally accessible" to children of all
abilities."
As a manufacturer of specialized rubber products, Welch currently holds
patents and trademarks on a variety of products, manufacturing processes,
production techniques, and trade names.
"These trademarks and patents are the proprietary intellectual property of
Welch Products and will continue to serve as the infrastructure for the
company's growing success," added Mahoney.
